Great Rann of Kutch (GRK)

The Great Rann of Kutch in Gujarat is a remarkable landscape of vast seasonal salt marshes, white salt flats, shallow wetlands, mudflats and arid grasslands. This unique ecosystem supports a rich diversity of resident and migratory birds, making it an exciting destination for birdwatching and wildlife photography, particularly during winter. The region offers opportunities to photograph flamingos, cranes, pelicans, raptors, waders and desert specialists such as the Cream-coloured Courser and Desert Wheatear.

Beyond its fascinating birdlife, the wider Kutch region supports wildlife such as Chinkara, Desert Fox, Nilgai and other desert-adapted species. The expansive landscapes and changing winter light provide excellent opportunities for habitat photography, bird behaviour, flight shots and creative compositions. November to February is generally the most rewarding period to explore the region, offering a memorable combination of bird diversity, unique landscapes and wildlife photography.
